Villa Life

Whether you are on one of our France or Italian tours, you will stay in beautiful luxury private villas or chateaux. Here are sample of two of the properties that we have used and are typical of all the villas in which you will stay.

An Elegant Villa

La-Calade-Villa-ExteriorSpacious, cool and inviting, this luxuriously restored villa retains many original 18th century features, including old stone walls and beamed ceilings, yet is completely updated to include sumptuous bedrooms with stylishly modern bathrooms, a professionally equipped kitchen, central air conditioning and high-speed Internet access.

The villa is completely enclosed within stone walls. Beds of roses, lavender, rosemary and sage highlight a beautifully tranquil garden, all accented with cypress, olive and fruit trees.

Set away from the house and surrounded by a low stone wall is a sparkling blue swimming pool with plenty of nap-inducing lounge chairs.

La-Calade-BedroomThe villa has been decorated in lovely soft colors. Traditional architectural features such as old wood and plaster ceilings, stone fireplaces and floors complement a stylish combination of contemporary furnishings and unique antique pieces.

The spacious bedrooms, all upstairs and each with a full private bathroom, are beautifully decorated  with French antique and modern pieces. Beds are fitted with luxurious linens and topped with fluffy down duvets.

 A Medieval Chateau

Chateau ExteriorThis magnificent fully restored 12th century chateau was once home to princes and counts.

The four-story stone chateau with its massive walled garden sits high above a valley and provides terraced areas of grass to enhance the tranquility and silence of the chateau’s grounds. The beautiful pool and stone-floored pool house is a magnificent spot to spend sunny days and evenings by the barbecue, watching the sun set.

Chateau Bedroom 2Wide stone spiral stairs take you up the west wing of this chateau into various levels of living.  On the ground flour is the entrance way, a modern kitchen and a dining room with a huge open stone fireplace and a table that seats up to 14.

On the second level is a beautiful living room and library – each with comfortable places to sit and read or enjoy a cocktail. There’s also a reception room that is perfect for breakfast in the morning.

The very spacious bedrooms are located on the third and fourth levels and have spectacular views of the valleys below. The bedrooms are beautifully furnished in a mixture of antiques and fabrics that give a nod to the chateau’s historic past. Each has a queen bed covered with high-quality linens and a large bathroom with American-style showers and clay-foot tubs.

All our accommodations are smoke-free environments.
